Many paintings are with Franch description only, no English.
In Islamic gallery there were items without any readable notes as the text was demaged.
The number of people inside is outrageous. It’s impossible to see anything as everyone is pushing you and it’s so noisy that I bet everyone is exiting the museum with a headache.
The audio guide is a Nintendo console, it helped a lot, when I wanted to find a particular piece but at some points it was disappointing too. It includes information not about all the pieces of art, but it covers only about 30%. Sometimes there was just a general description of the room with no info about paintings. And be ready that in 3,5 hours the battery will die and you’ll have to go back to the reception. If you are on the 2 level of the far wing it’ll take you 15 min one way.

The Louvre absolutely lives up to the hype. From the iconic Mona Lisa to jaw-dropping masterpieces like The Raft of the Medusa and Liberty Leading the People, every gallery is a journey through history and art. The building itself is a work of art—grand, historic, and beautifully maintained. It’s massive, so wear comfortable shoes and plan ahead. Tip: arrive early or book a timed ticket to avoid long lines. Even if you’re not a huge art buff, there’s something here that will stop you in your tracks. A must-visit in Paris!

One bit of advice please don’t waste your time trying to see the Mona Lisa. There are so many other masters to view. You cannot get near enough even to view the painting.
We arrived about 20 minutes before our tickets entry time & the ticket queue was very long but we still went in on time.
We took a change of shoes as it very heavy on the feet. There are lockers to put backpacks but many are occupied. Please don’t just put one umbrella in a large locker there are umbrella stands available.
There are free toilets inside Le Louvre. One just outside charge 2 euros.
Cafes inside are reasonable and lines move quickly.
Museum D’Orsay is a wonderful museum to visit

The most famous art pieces are swamped with selfie taking tik tokkers, but there are lots of quieter areas with fabulous art, sculptures and preserved rooms. I bought food at the cafe in the lobby, and it was very reasonably priced at €11 for a baguette and an Orangina.
4 hours wasn’t enough to see everything, but gave a great taste. I’ll be visiting again.
