Louvre Museum

Good thing we went in the off season. It was so packed and crazy I know I will never go in season. Absolutely incredible and the several hours here was not even enough to scratch the surface.

It is kinda ridiculous to review and especially to rate the Louvre, one of the best museums in the world. Of course, the collection is spectacular and comprehensive! A couple of practical considerations, though. It is impossible to see the whole collection in one single day (unless you are running through the halls not registering much). Unfortunately, the museum is very overcrowded, so it is crucial to buy tickets in advance (actually, I think that now it is the only option). Even with the reservation, there will be a significant line to enter. Carousel entrance is considered a better option in terms of waiting time, but in my experience the line there was still huge. Inside, the collection is scattered between 3 wings. To enter each wing you have to pass through the separate ticket control, which is inconvenient taking into account the crowds. If you want to limit your visit to only one wing, you may choose Denon, where the most famous paintings, including Mona Lisa, are located (to see her it is recommended to come as early as possible to be able to get close). The audioguide is good, but I found the Nintendo device they use cumbersome and heavy.

There should be signs on the entrance floor at the toilets to let ladies know they do not have to wait an hour to use the 2 or 3 toilets that are actually working, as there are multiple toilets on every floor.
Sometimes the luggage lockers won’t open but if you find a staff member they will help.
Every Monday, they close a part of the museum for maintenance and the thing we most wanted to see was in that section.
It was still a long wait in the queue, even with a ticket.

Not to be missed. Must buy tickets in advance. Very very crowded. It is great that the museums in France encourage love for Arts. Children below 18 go for free.

The Louvre Museum is without a doubt one of the most extraordinary cultural experiences in Paris—if not the world. It’s home to an absolutely massive collection of artworks, sculptures, and artifacts from all corners of history, including iconic pieces like the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, and Liberty Leading the People. But what truly blew me away was the Ancient Assyrian section—such a powerful, often-overlooked part of the museum that deserves more attention. The detail and preservation of those artifacts are incredible.

That said, the line to get in is extremely long, and it can easily eat up hours of your day if you’re not prepared. I’d highly recommend booking tickets in advance, or better yet, joining a guided tour that allows you to skip the line. It makes a huge difference. Also, keep in mind the museum is closed one day a week, so check the schedule ahead of time to avoid disappointment.

Give yourself at least half a day here, ideally more. There’s so much to see and take in—it’s an overwhelming but beautiful experience. With just a bit of planning, it’ll be one of the most rewarding stops on your trip to Paris.
